Cody brings a variety of experience from different work environments. From May 2004 to August 2006, Cody was an office manager at Sagebrush Realty, a real estate agency in Newcastle, Wyoming. From September 2005 to May 2006 he was an intern with the WCSD #1 tech team. In the same time period Cody worked with NHS teacher Chris French as an assistant webmaster for Newcastle High School and WCSD #1.

In the past year Cody served as President of the Newcastle FBLA Chapter (the largest in the state with 74 members), FBLA Mountain Plains Region Membership Director, and Board Member for the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

In 2006 Cody traveled to Nashville, Tennessee with six other members of his FBLA chapter to attend the 2006 National Leadership Conference (NLC). While there, he competed in Job Interview, along with the top winners from 50 other states. He was one of eight students from Wyoming to place in the top 10 at the conference, taking ninth in the event. Cody also attended the 2005 NLC in Orlando, Florida. He competed in Banking and Financial Systems against the top two winners from 59 states and islands. He placed third in his event, and was one of only four students from Wyoming to place in the top 10 at the conference.

In 2005 he was honored to nominated "Person of the Year" for Newcastle, Wyoming for his involvement in the Newcastle Community and Future Business Leaders of America. Cody has also received many academic awards including Newcastle High School’s Outstanding Business Student of the Year and Wyoming’s 2006 Career and Technical Student of the Year.
